Additional swap device on a VG, other than rootVG is not gettting activated at boot.

Issue

  • Additional swap device on a Volume Group other than rootVG is not getting activated at boot. Veritas Volume manager is being used for the device used for the VG. /etc/fstab file entries for the devices are
/dev/vx/dsk/bootdg/swapvol      swap    swap    defaults        0 0
/dev/vx/dsk/datadg/swapvol1     swap    swap    _netdev         0 0
  • Swap space is getting detected by running swapon -a command after reboot of the server.
# swapon -s
Filename                                Type            Size    Used    Priority
/dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/swapvol              partition       8385888 993340  -1

# swapon -a

# swapon -s
