Netvault backup fails with qla2xxx LOOP DOWN messages

Issue

When the customer want to use backup system to remote tape device using NetVault, the FC will down and output the following messages.

Jul 26 00:05:09 sgw-bs-tam002 kernel: qla2xxx 0000:07:00.0: LOOP DOWN detected (2 3 0 0).
Jul 26 00:05:19 sgw-bs-tam002 cmafcad[4466]: Host controller status change: slot 2, status is now Not Connected.
Jul 26 00:06:13 sgw-bs-tam002 kernel:  rport-3:0-0: blocked FC remote port time out: saving binding

Environment

  • RHEL5.8GA, kernel 2.6.18-308.el5
  • scsi tape device HP Model: Ultrium 5-SCSI Rev: Y5BW
  • dual-port HBA QLogic Corp. ISP2532-based 8Gb Fibre Channel
