Unable to mount XFS filesystem

Issue

  • When reboot system
  • When booting system, XFS filesystem can't be mounted with following error messages seen in dmesg:

    XFS bad magic number
    XFS SB validate failure
    
  • When trying to mount the filesystem using the option -t xfs it shows 'wrong fs type' and suggests to check dmesg output for details.

Environment

  • Redhat Enterprise Linux 6.2
  • Device Mapper
  • GPT labels
