How can I install xsos command in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Issue
- I have been looking but have been unable to download and install xsos package
- Where is the xsos command and how do I install it in RHEL?
- Is xsos supported by Red Hat?
Resolution
-
xsosis a 3rd-party open-source (GPLv3) publicly-available utility developed by a Red Hat employee in their free time -
While
xsoscan be easily installed in virtually any Linux distro, including any version of RHEL, it is not shipped by or supported by Red Hat -
For more on xsos, see this discussion thread in the Red Hat Customer Portal or go directly to the xsos project page on github
NOTE: Installing third-party packages does not make a system unsupportable by Red Hat Global Support Services; however, Red Hat GSS will be unable to support or debug problems with packages not shipped in standard RHEL channels. Installing such packages is done at the user's own risk.
