RHOSP 13 Controller update command for a minor update times out or overcloud deploy on larger environment takes more than 4 hours to complete

Solution Unverified - Updated -

  • After performing the below command to update the Controllers it times out:

$ openstack overcloud update run --nodes Controller
  • It doesn't change the result. So it is quite possible that only the output is cut off and the update has already been successfully completed.

  • On larger environments (100+ nodes), normal deploy can take more than the default timeout of 4 hours.
