Resources added to running cluster services are not started after reloading configuration on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

I've added a new resource (ip address) to cluster.conf using the below procedures. However, the new IP address is not coming online automatically:
- Edit cluster.conf, increment config_version, add a new IP resource and assign it to a service.
- Save changes to cluster.conf file, update the cluster with the new version and propagate to other nodes:

# ccs_tool update /etc/cluster/cluster.conf

I've verified the version was incremented on node B correctly, but when I do "ip a s", I do not see the new IP address (resource) that I added in the cluster.conf file.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • Red Hat High Availability cluster with 2 or more nodes
  • Clustered Services managed by rgmanager
  • Issue occurs when adding a new IP resource to an existing service that is already running.
