Why do we see "CDRP invalid or unknown cmd received: 0x10" messages frequently getting logged for QLogic 1/10GbE Controllers ports in RHEL6?

Issue

  • We see following messages are frequently getting logged on the host for qlogic NICS cards:
Server kernel: [5355580.310767] qlcnic 0000:04:00.0: ethX: CDRP invalid or unknown cmd received: 0x10.
Server kernel: [5355580.393534] qlcnic 0000:04:00.1: ethY: CDRP invalid or unknown cmd received: 0x10.
Server kernel: [5355610.708800] qlcnic 0000:04:00.0: ethX: CDRP invalid or unknown cmd received: 0x10.
Server kernel: [5355610.790548] qlcnic 0000:04:00.1: ethY: CDRP invalid or unknown cmd received: 0x10.
  • The affected interfaces are not active or used on the host.

  • Why are such messages seen?

  • Nic port ethX gets inaccessible with below messages.
