Why am I seeing tg3 errors on LACP-bonded interfaces?

Issue

  • Network interfaces are flapping
  • The following error messages are seen in dmesg, /var/log/dmesg, or /var/log/messages:

    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: 3: NAPI info [0000007f:0000007f:(0000:0000:01ff):03b1:(03b1:03b1:0000:0000)]
    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: 4: Host status block [00000001:00000010:(0000:0000:0567):(0000:0000)]
    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: 4: NAPI info [00000010:00000010:(0000:0000:01ff):0567:(0567:0567:0000:0000)]
    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: Link is down
    bond0: link status definitely down for interface em1, disabling it
    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: Link is up at 1000 Mbps, full duplex
    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: Flow control is on for TX and on for RX
    tg3 0000:01:00.0: em1: EEE is disabled
    bond0: link status definitely up for interface em1, 1000 Mbps full duplex
