RHEL 6.4 does not boot on IBM HS22 blade with IBM SAS SSD

Issue

  • RHEL 6.4 does not boot on IBM HS22 blade with IBM SAS SSD
  • Using SATA hard drives and SATA SSDs works fine
  • When installing from DVD or kickstarting, the installer hangs after partitioning but before package installation
  • When cloning from a working SATA system, the following errors appear:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 (kernel-2.6.32-358 series)
  • IBM BladeCenter HS22 blade model 1936 or 7870
  • IBM SAS SSD Part Number 49Y6129 49Y6134 49Y6149 or 00W1311
  • Drive configured in JBOD mode (not RAID mode)
