Does cpu type impact live migration of VM between hosts ?

Issue

• Can I live migrate a VM without considering the CPU type in KVM setup?.
• This kbase says that Live migration is only possible between hosts with the same CPU type (that is, Intel to Intel or AMD to AMD only), but we still have following questions.VM Live Migration between AMD/Intel cpu based Hypervisors
  • Would that be all right even if micro-architecture such as Haswell or Ivy Bridge is different?
  • Also, would that be all right even if the Xeon series such as E5 or E7 is different?
