Unable to mount nfs share, fails with error 'mount.nfs: Protocol not supported'

Issue

  • Mounting a nfs share fails with the following error :
# mount -t nfs -o nfsvers=3 nfs-server:/share1 /share1mount/ -vvvv
mount.nfs: timeout set for Sun Apr 26 06:32:10 2020
mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'nfsvers=3,addr=xx.xx.xx.xx'
mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6
mount.nfs: trying xx.xx.xx.xx prog 100003 vers 3 prot TCP port 2049
mount.nfs: prog 100005, trying vers=3, prot=17
mount.nfs: trying xx.xx.xx.xx prog 100005 vers 3 prot UDP port 20048
mount.nfs: Protocol not supported
