How to gather container status without using cluster API

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • At the moment Prometheus monitoring stack is used mainly to monitor and manage Cluster status and metrics, not being suited to monitor application pods states and status. Even though it may be possible to do that using the cAdvisor solution that is integrated on Kubelet, the complexity of configuring a solution to gather Pods/Container status makes it not the best option for now.
  • There might be a need to also bypass the cluster API when writing a script to gather immediate information when a container enters in some state other than "Running".
  • What are the alternatives to know when the container is in failing state and there is no access though the cluster API? We will respond to that on the Resolution below
