Does Red Hat provide java 1.6.0 version 45?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Issue

  • Does Red Hat provide java 1.6.0 version 45?
  • The vendor is suggesting to install at least version 1.6.0_45 or _51, but we are unable to find these from Red Hat?

Resolution

  • Red Hat's openjdk is based version 1.6.0_24; however, many CVEs and bugs have been fixed in this version due to our Backporting Policy. This can be seen by using the latest version of openjdk and executing the following:
# java -version
java version "1.6.0_24"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11.11.90) (rhel-1.62.1.11.11.90.el6_4-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)
