SMB: Files created by users show as root

Issue

  • Some users are in the Domain Admins group within the Active Directory domain.
  • Files created by these users show root as the owner in # ls output when the share is mounted with the cifsacl mount option.
  • Administrators@BUILTIN is shown in the OWNER: field in # getcifsacl output.
