  • Sendmail is rejecting local messages and the hostname of the server is seen in /var/log/maillog

# cat /var/log/maillog

Oct  1 10:30:31 server1234 sendmail[19639]: r85EnQ8q019639: to=<root@server1234.example.com>, delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=31823, relay=server1234.example.com., dsn=4.0.0,       stat=Deferred: Connection refused by server1234.example.com.
