'503 Internal Server Error' when accessing the Object Storage provided by Red Hat Storage Server 2.1

Issue

When running the following command required authenticate to get a token, in order to enable Object Storage through Red Hat Storage Server 2.1:

$ curl -v -H 'X-Storage-User: <volume>:<user>' -H 'X-Storage-Pass:'<passwd>' -k 

...the following error is seen:

< HTTP/1.1 503 Internal Server Error
< Content-Length: 118
< Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8
< X-Trans-Id: <id>
< Date: <date>
< 
* Connection #0 to host <IP_address> left intact
* Closing connection #0
