No pod recovery after PV filesystem has shut down

Issue

  • After the filesystem of a persistent volume, xfs for instance, has shut down there is no recovery and the container is stuck in CrashLoopBackOff

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) 3.x and 4.x
