Use of the SKIP_REMOTE_LOOKUP to access a RHDG cache

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Is it a performance benefit to use the SKIP_REMOTE_LOOKUP if the embedded cache is replicated?
  • Under some conditions getAdvancedCache().withFlags(Flag.SKIP_REMOTE_LOOKUP).get(key) operation returns null for a given key in some situation. Cache size also returns as 0 in this situation. How could this be avoided?
  • Is it possible to use SKIP_REMOTE_LOOKUP for embedded distributed caches ?
  • When should I use a cache get with advanced flag SKIP_REMOTE_LOOKUP
  • Is use of Flag.CACHE_MODE_LOCAL a good idea?

Environment

  • Red Hat Data Grid (RHDG)
    • embedded (library) mode
