Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • How to autostart an application on particular runlevel in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6?

  • "inittab" is deprecated on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, so how do I upstart an application?

  • Customer running process. When process dies, it is not restarting. Entries in the inittab file, but the process still does not restart.

  • We have an entry in /etc/inittab in RHEL 5 that worked, but when we put it in inittab in RHEL 6, it doesn't seem to do anything.

  • How do we configure init in RHEL 6 to start and manage (respawn) a process at boot time like /etc/inittab did in earlier versions of RHEL with SysVinit?

Environment
