Issue

  • Not able to authenticate as an Active Directory user when ssh error : ¨internal module error (retval = PAM_AUTHINFO_UNAVAIL(9), user = 'ad_user') ¨ in messages file
Aug 27 09:31:36 server01 sshd[19424]: pam_winbind(sshd:auth): pam_get_item returned a password
Aug 27 09:31:36 server01 sshd[19424]: pam_winbind(sshd:auth): internal module error (retval = PAM_AUTHINFO_UNAVAIL(9), user = 'ad_user')
Aug 27 09:31:38 server01 sshd[19424]: Failed password for ad_user from x.x.x.x port 52143 ssh2
  • Some users are able to login. Some newly created users are not able to login.
  • I created a new local user and that user can log in via ssh removed and re-added the locked user but that account can still Not login.
