Passwords that work in RHEL 5 error that they are based on a dictionary word with RHEL 6

Issue

  • When using FascistCheck() subroutine from cracklib, passwords like "l3tm3in" work in RHEL 5.7 but RHEL 6.2 complains that the password is either too simple or a dictionary word. Why the change in behavior?
