filesystem on SAS disk inaccessible, `rejecting I/O to dead device` in the logs
Issue
- File system remounted read-only
# grep sdb1 /proc/mounts
/dev/sdb1 /u01 ext3 ro 0 0
- Following errors appears whenever the file system is being read :
kernel: scsi3 (2:1): rejecting I/O to dead device
kernel: EXT3-fs error (device sdb1): ext3_find_entry: reading directory #186434430 offset 0
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Problematic disk : LSI Logic / Symbios Logic , driver : Fusion MPT SAS
