ricci wont start on node however luci runs fine

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8

Issue

  • Trying to build two node cluster with RHEL 4.8(64) and GFS (DLM). Did fresh install of OS on DL380 G5 Servers and updated all packages via up2date. Installed ricci on both nodes and luci on first node. Cluster config failed first time and since then ricci wont start on node however luci runs fine.

[root@varhqa87 ~]# /etc/init.d/ricci start
Starting oddjobd: Error connecting to D-BUS! [FAILED]

I tried uninstalling ricci and removing /var/lib/ricci/queue/* and even /var/lib/ricci and reinstalling it but still same.

Resolution

Disable the selinux and then try to initialize the ricci service. Cluster/GFS is fully supported with SELinux in enforcing mode from RHEL 5.5 onwards.
