System fails to boot in Grub with multipath with different errors (mod not found , uncompression error, ELF magic ...)

Issue

• On a system with boot intalled on a multipath device, the system fails to boot with errors like:

  error: invalid arch-independant ELF magic.
  
  Press any key to continue...
  Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok
  
  uncompression error
  

  or

  error: file '/grub2/i386-pc/bo?[^_]?U????V??St!???@H.mod' not found  
          Entering rescue mode...
          grub rescue>
  

  or any other grub module not found.

• Some messages can also be seen on the booted system kernel in rescue:

      kernel: scsi host1: hdr status = FCPIO_DATA_CNT_MISMATCH
