Cannot dynamically expand PVC NetApp Trident NFS volume: "volume plugin does not support resize"

Issue

  • I'm trying to resize a PVC backed by a Trident NetApp NFS volume and get the following error:

    error: persistentvolumeclaims "logging-es-1" could not be patched: persistentvolumeclaims "logging-es-1" is forbidden: volume plugin does not support resize

  • I have already set the "AllowVolumeExpansion: True" on the storage class prior to creating the volume.

  • I'm running the latest version of the Trident plugin which supports resizing PV by editing the PVC

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) 3.11.117 and later
