Why are the SCTP header files values out of sync with kernel in RHEL 6.4?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • User space application is sending a sctp_opt_info() with SCTP_GET_PEER_ADDR_INFO. The return code in spinfo_state is used to determine if the association is up or down.
  • RHEL 6.4 has new state named SCTP_UNCONFIRMED. Apparently, the spinfo_state is always showing SCTP_UNCONFIRMED or SCTP_INACTIVE and never going to SCTP_ACTIVE.
  • If the association is working, at least one transport/network needs to be in SCTP_ACTIVE state. But its not happening.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
