Why application/oracle database are not running properly on RHEL 5.9 kernel ?

Issue

  • Getting below error while going to start the application / database:
netaapp85 : service redwood start
[root@netaapp85 ~]# service redwood start

JCS-00328: your license is not valid. Type SHOW LICENSE to examine license
RS> For details see /var/log/redwood.log...
  • When running the same database on a server using kernel-2.6.348.1.1.el5 (or kernel-2.6.348.2.1.el5) causes these "your license is not valid" messages.
  • When booting the system with previous kernel-2.6.18-308.11.1.el5, everything starts working again.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
  • kernel-2.6.348.1.1.el5 , kernel-2.6.348.2.1.el5
