Mounting a NFSv3 share with UDP fails when the server is multi-homed and on RHEL 6

Issue

  • When a client attempts to mount a NFS share using a virtual ip on a multi-homed machine, the mount may fail if

    • A RHEL 6 client was used.
    • A RHEL 5 client was used but firewall rules reject packets with the source set to the default address for the server.
  • Mounting with TCP is handled correctly.

Environment

  • NFS server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • NFSv3
