Why I am not able to login in GNOME session as root user ?

Issue

  • Below error message is observed while logging in to server in gui mode
Your session only lasted less then 10second. if you have logged out yourself . this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of disk space.
Try logging i with one of the failsafe to session to see if you can fix this problem.

/etc/gdm/PreSession/default: running: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/gdm/:0.xservers" -h " " -l ":0" "root"
localuser:root being added to access control list 
no profile for user 'root' found

(gnome-session:4342): gtk-warning **: cannot open display:
  • Problem is seen only with root user account.
