Server doesn't see the software channels it's supposed to

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Issue

  • Running yum repolist doesn't show the repos:
# yum repolist -v
Not loading "dellsysid" plugin, as it is disabled
Loading "product-id" plugin
Loading "security" plugin
Not loading "subscription-manager" plugin, as it is disabled
Config time: 0.050
Yum Version: 3.2.22
Setting up Package Sacks
repolist: 0

Resolution

  • Copy the missing files from an identical server to the problem server or reinstall the yum-rhn-plugin from rhn.

Root Cause

  • The following files were missing from the server
/usr/lib/yum-plugins/rhnplugin.py
/usr/lib/yum-plugins/rhnplugin.pyc
/usr/lib/yum-plugins/rhnplugin.pyo
