RHEL5.5-i686 squid missing "Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive" in HTTP/1.0 data

Issue

  • There are 2 routes from a client to the Internet http server
  • In the case of Route 1, "Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive" is witnessed in HTTP data between all of client, squid#1 and InterScan#1
  • In the case of Route 2, "Proxy-Connection: Keep-Alive" is witnessed in HTTP data between client and squid#2 but not between squid#2 and InterScan#2.
  • There are no differences in the configurations between these systems.
  • What could be causing this disparity?

Environment

  • 2 proxy servers running squid-2.6 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Update 5.
  • 2 InterScan servers running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Update 5
