zlinux - Getting "Incorrect Metadata area header" while creating the VG

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • vgcreate command fails to create VG on zlinux system.
# pvcreate /dev/dasdl
  Writing physical volume data to disk "/dev/dasdl"
  Physical volume "/dev/dasdl" successfully created

# vgcreate -s 32 appvg /dev/dasdl
  No physical volume label read from /dev/dasdl
  Metadata inconsistency: Not all flags successfully exported.
  Metadata inconsistency: Not all flags successfully exported.
  Writing physical volume data to disk "/dev/dasdl"
  Physical volume "/dev/dasdl" successfully created
  Incorrect metadata area header checksum on /dev/dasdl at offset 4096
