RHHI-V: How to restore Hyperconverged RHV cluster

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • gluster_bricks/engine is corrupt and need to rebuild manager

  • How to restore RHHI-v Storage domains after deploying RHV-Manager

  • There are times that the RHV-Manager will need to be restored from a backup or as a fresh install. This procedure is intended to keep the existing data from the unaffected bricks, deploy a fresh manager with the 3 node cluster, and import the data.

Restoring a Hyperconverged cluster involves the following steps:

  • Prepare the gluster volume where the manager will be deployed

  • Prepare the hosts to be added to the Self Hosted Engine

  • Deploy the Self Hosted Engine

  • Update the HE cluster from a virtualization cluster to a hyperconverged cluster

  • Add remaining hosts to the Manager

  • Import Gluster Storage Domains

Environment

  • Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization (RHHI-V) 1.6.
  • Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure for Virtualization (RHHI-V) 1.7.
