EAP management plug-in's start operation fails with 'start script does not exist' due to insufficient agent user permissions

Issue

  • Plug-in throws the following error when I try to start the host controller:

    java.lang.Exception: This Resource's connection properties contain errors: [Start script '/usr/local/EAP/jboss-eap/bin/domain.sh' does not exist.]
        at org.rhq.core.pc.operation.OperationInvocation.run(OperationInvocation.java:278)
        at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1110)
        at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:603)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:679)
    
  • Start operations fails with error:

    Start script '/opt/jboss/jboss-eap/bin/domain.sh' does not exist.
    

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (ON) 3
  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6
  • JBoss EAP management plug-in for JBoss ON
  • Operating system user who starts JBoss ON agent has insufficient privileges or permissions to read or execute the start script file or one of its directory components
