NFS share is 100% full, rm and mv commands give error "no space left on device".

Issue

  • I have a RHEL client connected to an NFS share on a NetApp filer, and the partition is 100% full.
  • When I try to use rm -rf or mv commands, I get an error: 
no space left on device

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
