How to repair xfs/ext4 filesystem of root/system volume by interrupting initramfs boot in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and above?
Issue
- The
/filesystem isxfsformatted and is corrupted, this isn't letting OS boot appropriately and landing up intodracut#shell. - The
rescuemode mounting to/mnt/sysimagedoesn't help as well, it hangs forever since themountto/mnt/sysimagegoes intoDState. - The
rescuemode directly skip to shell option too doesn't help here since it too tries to mount the/filesystem to/mnt/sysimagesomehow. - Is there any way to interrupt boot process and repair
/filesystem during normal boot?
