Why does Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 UEFI deployment land into grub> shell across reboot after grub2-install ?

Issue

  • grub2-install breaks normal Red Hat Enterprise Linux UEFI boot system.
  • The manual booting from grub> shell works.
grub> ls
grub> ls (hd0,gpt2)
grub> ls (hd0,gpt2)/
grub> set boot=(hd0,gpt2)
grub> set prefix=(hd0,gpt2)/grub2
grub> insmod normal
grub> normal
