How to avoid random gedit paste location caused by inadvertent "mouse-wheel-click" during scrolling ?

Issue

  • In gedit clicking the mouse-wheel sets a cursor location for paste, but does not paste as advertised.

  • This was happening accidentally clicking when over-enthusiastically scrolling to move the file-display and set the paste cursor. Mouse-wheel clicking occurred accidentally, unaware, on the fly and thus the apparently random insertion position.

  • The issue is that a paste cursor location gets set, but is not visible and it is not reset even by left click which does visibly move the cursor.

  • gedit-2.16.0-9.el5.x86_64
