CUPS service won't start after upgrade in RHEL 7

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After upgrading CUPS, a new entry, "SystemGroup=sys root" was added to /etc/cups/cups-files.conf, and CUPS is unable to start. After commenting the parameter in configuration file the CUPS service starts properly.

  • We have recently patched the server and during patching at the time of cleanup activity its showing below error.

    Cleanup : 1:cups-client-1.6.3-35.el7.x86_64 212/332

cupsd[31326]: Unable to read "/etc/cups/cups-files.conf" due to errors.

After that server was rebooted, but the CUPS service was not able to start
