Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7

Issue

  • sssd_be is crashing due to memory out of bounds.
  • Core was generated by `/usr/libexec/sssd/sssd_be --domain --uid 0 --gid 0 --logger'. Program terminated with signal 6, Aborted.

Resolution

Install sssd-1.16.4-21.el7 (or newer) released via RHSA-2019:2177 as part of RHEL 7.7

Root Cause

There is a race-condition crash in dp_failover_active_server that seems to occur when servers resolved from SRV lookup are collapsing.
