NFS v4 Security Negotiation using SECINFO call is not working against NetApp filer and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Issue

  • The implementation of NFSv4 SECINFO negotiation does not work against NetApp filers as NFS server.
  • Mount fails when attempting to mount, RHEL 6.4 client against ONTAP 8.1.3 7-mode server:
[root@client ~]# mount servernfs:/vol/servernfs_v00/v4-krb5 /mnt
mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting servernfs:/vol/servernfs_v00/v4-krb5
  • mount command succeeds when attempting to mount against ONTAP 8.2 c-mode.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 6.4
  • Netapp filer configured in 7-mode.
