Why interface failed to activate with WARNING **: _nm_object_get_property message ?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
  • NetworkManager

Issue

  • Getting error logs on screen. The following are the error messages we are seeing
1.type=1400 audit(1374034501.350:15): avc:  denied  { execute } for  pid=14836 comm="httpd" path="/usr/lib64/httpd/modules/mod_jk-2.2.so" dev=sda3 ino=2228292 scontext=unconfined_u:system_r:httpd_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:root_t:s0 tclass=file
2.WARNING **: _nm_object_get_property: Error getting 'State' for /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/71: (19) Method "Get" with signature "ss" on interface "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" doesn't exist
  • Above error displayed when restart the network service.

Resolution

  • Currently the exact reason for generation of said message is not debugged. Workaround could to be completely stop NetworkManager service on the system and use only network service to manage all the networking on the server.

Diagnostic Steps

  • using network and NetworkManager to manage network at the same time:
# chkconfig --list | grep -i network
NetworkManager  0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on  4:on     5:on    6:off
network         0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on  4:on     5:on    6:off
