Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 takes long time (around 45s) to boot

Issue

  • System has 4 processors running at 3.8 GHz and has 12 GB RAM but the system still take over 45 seconds to boot.

  • There is no LVM, all partition are ready to start linux at once.

  • For comparison, Opensuse 11.3 on a 2.8 GHz notebook has a boot time of 30 s.
  • Does the nash script has to do anything with this?
