After unsuccessfully extending a RHEV storage domain, some Virtual Machines could not be started.

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • An attempt to extend a storage domain by adding a newly-provisioned lun failed. After this occurred some Virtual Machines (VMs) failed to start.

  • Also, when some VMs that were running were later shutdown, they could not be restarted.

  • All of the VMs in question were based off of the same template. However, not all VMs associated with this template encountered this problem.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.1 (rhevm-3.1.0-43)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linu 6.3 hosts;
    • vdsm-4.9.6-45.1, vdsm-4.9.6-45.2
    • libvirt-0.9.10-21.el6_3.8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 hosts;
    • vdsm-4.10.2-1.6
    • libvirt-0.10.2-18
