EAP 5 does not emit JMX notifications about start and stop events

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 5.0
    • 5.1

Issue

We have configured the SNMP adaptor for sending SNMP traps. But EAP 5.0 does not emit the “org.jboss.system.server.started” and “org.jboss.system.server.stopped” JMX notifications, which used to work in earlier versions.

How could we have a workaround to send SNMP trap when starting & stopping in EAPO 5.0?

Resolution

Users of EAP 5.0.0 or 5.0.1 can use EAP 5.0.1 and apply the patch [2].

Users of EAP 5.1.0 need to wait until version EAP 5.1.1 (to be confirmed through [1]) is out.

Root Cause

A platform JIRA has already been created [1] to backport the fix from AS 6 to EAP 5.

In addition, a one-off patch exists for EAP 5.0.1 [2].
