The `ls` Command Does Not Display A File On A NFS Share

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The ls command does not display a specific file.
  • However, it displays as expected when ls is executed with the file name explicitly stated on the command line.  (I.e. ls file.)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL 7), before kernel-3.10.0-957.el7.
  • Either NFSv3 or NFSv4 used.
  • 3rd-party NFS servers.
