RHV host in "not responding" state until ovirt-engine service restarted

Issue

  • Host was shown as non-responding (not responding) all the time.

  • The event logs were filled with following messages:

VDSM host-A command Get Host Capabilities failed: Message timeout which can be caused by communication issues.
  • When ovirt-engine was restarted, the host transitioned to Up state right away.

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) 4.x
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.6 host;
    • vdsm-4.20.48-1
