configure dedicated cpus for hypervisor overhead

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • The Nova scheduler and the placement API determine CPU resource utilization and instance CPU placement based on the number of vCPUs in the flavor. A number of hypervisors have operations that are being performed on behalf of the guest instance in the host OS (hypervisor overhead). These operations should be accounted and scheduled separately, as well as have their own placement policy controls applied.

  • As mentioned in the following OpenStack documentation, this seems to be a new feature.

  • Has Red Hat openstack added this to the roadmap or is this already available, if so, what is the heat configuration for this ?

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenStack Platform 13.0 (RHOSP)
