Master Node does not Recognize Certficate Presented by the Load Balancer

Issue

When performing a UPI install of OpenShift Container Platform, the master node is unable to communicate with the bootstrap API server. This is because the certificate presented by the load balancer is not recognized by the master.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform v4.1
  • Installation type: Bare Metal, vSphere
  • Layer 7 load balancer
