Why virt-install with --noautoconsole option does not reboot guest after the installation is finished?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • While using a kickstart file with "reboot" specified in the post section of it to get the guest rebooted after installation, running "virt-install" with "--noautoconsole" option to fully automate the installation does not actually reboot the guest after installation is finished.

  • On the other hand if  "--nographics" or the default VNC options are used, the process proceeds as normal and the guest is rebooted after completing the kickstart installation.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
  • python-virtinst-0.400.3-9.el5_5.1
